General Notes: The Spring Bolt
Quicker
Installs in far less time. Once the springs have been installed the joint can be disassembled or reassembled in 5 seconds.
Easier
No special tools and no precision drilling, resulting in a reduced level of skill required for installation. Installs with a drill, paddle bit and a driver bit. See video above for demonstration.
More Versatile (Has More Uses)
The only hardware that makes a 90-Degree rail joint and is totally concealed. Works on all profiles. Post attachment can be used on wood or stone or concrete decks.
It becomes cost effective to prefit in the shop and assemble in the field.
Totally Concealed
No plugs to match and sand. No plugs to disappoint the customer.
Opens the Door for the Use of Epoxy
Epoxy, an adhesive stronger than yellow glue, has been too difficult to work with for stair handrail installations. With Spring Bolt, the spring's pull is directly opposed to the other spring which keeps the pieces aligned during the setting of the epoxy. Spring Bolt's pull is also clamping the joint during the setting of the epoxy. Once the epoxy has cured the steel pin is entwined with the springs that are attached to each side of the joint and encased in epoxy which has bonded to the springs, steel pin and the walls of the holes all acting together to produce our incredible results.
Installs High
Installs high in in the rail profile so you can drill for balusters directly on the joint and not hit the hardware with the drill bit.
3 Sizes Available
Rail Connector
The Rail Connector is suitable for all standard rail connections. Strong joints will be achieved with yellow glue, i.e. Tight Bond. Strongest joint is achieved when Fasco Epoxy 88 is used. Note that Epoxy 88 sets in 5 to 6 minutes and can be sanded within 10 minutes. Instructions for use are available on the Epoxy 88 tubes. When stain is applied to a joint made with Epoxy 88 the joint will look the same as a joint that was made using Tight Bond glue.
Super Rail Connector
The Super Rail Connector is designed for rail profiles considered to be large and for connecting segments of helical rails.
Post Attachment
The Post Attachment is the strongest off-the-shelf hardware on the market. It can be used for attaching a post to a wood or concrete deck. Fasco Epoxy 110 or equal must be used for the assembly.
Note: If epoxy is used for a rail joint it takes approximately a 1/2 oz. of quick set Epoxy 88 to make the joint. It takes approximately 5 oz. of slow set Fasco Epoxy 110 per post attachment.
